Butterfly Weft FAQ
Q: What is a Butterfly Weft?
A: A Butterfly Weft is a revolutionary new type of hair extension. It features an ultra-thin PU base with pre-made holes. Instead of sewing, taping, or gluing, you pull your natural hair through the holes and secure them with micro-beads. The weft then "folds" over like butterfly wings to completely hide the beads.
Q: What makes Raw Hair and Virgin Remy Hair better than regular hair extensions?
A: Raw hair and Virgin Remy hair represent the pinnacle of hair quality. It means the hair is cut from a single donor, has never been harshly chemically processed, and all cuticles remain intact and facing the same direction. This ensures your extensions will look healthier, last much longer, and never mat or tangle like lower-grade hair.
Q: Do these extensions damage natural hair?
A: No! Because the Butterfly Weft installation requires absolutely no glue, adhesive tapes, or tight sewing threads, it is one of the least damaging extension methods on the market. We recommend using silicone-lined micro-beads for extra hair protection.
Q: How many packs do I need for a full head?
A: Each weft is 50g. For a natural volume boost, 100g (2 wefts) is usually sufficient. If you have thick hair or want maximum length and dramatic volume, we recommend 150g to 200g (3 to 4 wefts).
Q: Can I use hot tools on these extensions?
A: Yes. Because Coovip Hair extensions are made from top-grade Raw and Virgin Remy hair, you can straighten, curl, and blow-dry your #1 Jet Black extensions just as you would your own natural hair. The high-quality virgin hair holds styles beautifully and maintains its natural, healthy shine.
Q: Have you changed your manufacturing process? My extensions feel different.
A: At Coovip Hair, we only use top-quality Raw Virgin Remy hair cut directly from donors' ponytails, ensuring all cuticles are completely intact. To continuously provide the best quality on the market, our R&D department has recently upgraded our processing technology. Our newest batches have passed rigorous testing—including being washed over 100 times—without any frizzing, matting, or tangling. Before shipping, our factory also applies a specialized oil treatment to ensure ultimate smoothness and resilience.
Q: Can I use hot tools like a GHD straightener or curling iron on my extensions?
A: Yes, but temperature control is extremely important! Overheating is the main cause of dryness and tangling. High heat forces the hair cuticles open; if they rub together while open, they will tangle. It also literally burns the dye out of the hair, causing rapid color fading.
-
Dark Hair: Keep tools below 150°C (300°F).
-
Light/Blonde Hair: Light hair undergoes bleaching and is more fragile. Keep tools below 90°C - 120°C (190°F - 250°F).
-
Avoid High-Heat Tools: Tools like GHD that default to 185°C (365°F) are usually too hot for extensions. Always use a heat protectant, and never hold the heat on one spot for more than 5 seconds. Doing multiple curls at a lower temperature is much safer!
Q: Why did my ash or light-colored hair extensions turn orange, pink, or brassy?
A: This is a chemical reaction caused by your environment. Exposure to chlorine (swimming pools), hard water minerals (shower water), sea water, and direct sun exposure can strip away the delicate violet and ash pigments used to dye light hair. When these cool pigments are stripped away, the hair's natural underlying red pigment is revealed, creating an orangey or pink tone. To prevent this, avoid swimming with your extensions exposed and consider using a shower water filter.
Q: How should I brush and wash my Butterfly Wefts to prevent tangling?
A: Proper daily maintenance is key to long-lasting extensions:
-
Washing: Use lukewarm or cool water. Hot water exacerbates the rate of color loss and dries out the hair.
-
Brushing: Gently detangle with your fingers first. Always comb starting from the very bottom (ends), then the middle, and finally from top to bottom. Never brush violently.
-
Products: Use hair care essential oils, but in moderation. Applying too much thick conditioner or oil will make the hair unable to "breathe" and cause heavy buildup.
